    “Hotel lacks Atmosphere and Quality and needs renovating”

    We were given a "room upgrade", unfortunately this came at the price of being opposite the Air Con central for the site and was very noisy and leaving the windows open at night was not an option. The rooms were clean. The food was average and not what you expect from a 5 star hotel with the exception of the Italian and Greek À la carte restaurants which had great food and service. The buffet was very much like a works canteen. The qualified staff were good but many of the staff were trainees and not well supervised. The pool area was well organised and the lady running the pool bar / snack bar was also well organised and made guests welcome. Drinks even compared to somewhere like London were vastly overpriced, this was a comment we heard from other guests as well. I did let the manager know my thoughts but did not really get any reaction, she seemed just to be going through the motions as did the trainee waitress who asked if we were enjoying out meal and walked away before we could reply. I do not think the hotel offered good value. The rooms really require some paint and new furniture.

    “Lovely relaxing holiday”

    We have just spent a week at this hotel, enjoyed it so much we have booked again for May 2027 Our room was a deluxe sea view room overlooking sea and beach. The room was really comfortable and bathroom excellent, sunken bath was a nice touch, powerful shower with lots of toiletries and clean fluffy towels. We went on half board basis and the breakfast was superb, every taste catered for. The evening buffet likewise plenty of choice, salads, meats and fish cooked while you wait. The hotel is situated within a 15/20 min walk to Elounda and possibly 1 hour to Plaka There is a bus stop outside the hotel with a regular service to Elounda and Aghios Nicolas 2.20 euro either way. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful and facilities such as gym, pool etc really good. We felt that the one thing lacking was being able to sit in a lounge are for coffee after evening meal the only place to get coffee other than our room was in the sail bar where unfortunately the comfy seating was damp due to condensation.

    “Revenue generation prioritised over the guest experience”

    The food and beverage (F&B) offering was the biggest disappointment of our stay. We were given complimentary half board but it quickly became apparent that this was primarily designed to drive guests into the restaurant and generate additional beverage revenue. The evening meal was a low‑quality buffet that was more in keeping with a mass‑market package resort than a five-star hotel. Drinks were priced at a level entirely disproportionate to the quality of the dining experience. Our experience of lunch in the hotel was equally poor: limited choice, indifferent service and poor value for money. As a result, we chose to eat in Elounda town for the rest of our stay. The contrast was striking. There was a wide range of restaurants offering excellent food, attentive service and significantly better value, no doubt helped by the level of competition within the town. After we had stopped using the hotel's restaurants, we received a call from Guest Relations asking whether everything was satisfactory with our stay. Whilst presented as a courtesy call, it reinforced our impression that the hotel was more concerned with recapturing on‑property spending than understanding why guests might be choosing to dine elsewhere. We came away with the distinct impression that the commercial priorities of the resort had overtaken the guest experience. Too often, it felt as though the objective was to maximise ancillary revenue rather than provide the standard of hospitality that guests should reasonably expect from a five‑star property. The resort itself is attractive and its location is excellent. However, the quality of the food and beverage offering, together with a pricing strategy that appeared focused on revenue generation rather than value, detracted materially from the overall experience.

    “Another wonderful stay at Elounda Bay Palace”

    Having visited twice again this year, we can only confirm how wonderful this place is for us. Every stay feels like coming home, thanks to the incredible hospitality, warm staff and excellent service. A special thank you to the entire team for always taking such great care of us. We are already looking forward to our next visit!
